Basic Distribution Transformers
A fun, informative, 8-hour day, Basic Distribution Transformers is a good investment in anyone who needs to know
about distribution transformers. We cover valuable information from the nameplates of transformers: size, polarity,
impedance, voltage, and the wiring diagrams. We explain, discuss, draw, and connect single-phase connections,
three-phase connections -- wye and delta.
There's lots of hands-on here. Participants are required to correctly connect a single-phase transformer both the high
and low-voltage side. Then we configure three-phase connections.
Safety!! Safety!! Safety!! We stress safety through out this presentation, pointing out and discussing the potentially
hazardous situations someone could possibly find themselves in when working with and around transformers.
We cover conventional transformers, single-bushing transformers, tap changers, lightning arrestors, fuses, and
anything else you need covered.
This is an exciting and enjoyable class that provides important information and practiced skills for apprentices. But
journey-level electricians, linemen, or anyone else can gain from this presentation. Anyone who can profit from
knowledge of the workings of distribution transformers and the safety issues surrounding them should consider this
class.
There is a maximum
enrollment for this class
of 10.
